  We had a really nice dinner here last Saturday. Our meal came in a timely manner, and my boyfriend and I finished every bite. The appetizers were appropriate; my boyfriend had the lobster bisque, finished it all and didn't mention any complaints to me. The pasta alla vodka was delicious and the steak well-seasoned and tender. The decor was cozy and clean, and the staff were friendly.

  We were recently visiting our son who is stationed in San Diego on Coronado Island at the Navy Base. We walked past the Rhinoceros Cafe the night before and thought what a nice place to have dinner, which we did the following evening. We (4 adults, 1 child) were greeted by a surly hostess who seemed annoyed that we had shown up without a reservation even though there were very few people in the restaurant, with empty tables the whole time we were there. The waitress was very nice but had too many tables to serve and only came to serve us our food but not to ask if we needed anything else, while the surly hostess walked past several times and set the mood for a very unpleasant dining experience.
  The food. . . . we felt that the food was just okay, we all had various pasta dishes and none of them were exceptional with very little flavor, very disappointing.
  We paid our check (appox $ 140.00) and before we had a chance to leave the table the hostess was cleaning up, rush, rush, rush. . . . there was no one waiting to be seated and again there were empty tables around us. Very Rude, no "thank you for coming in"
  We'll definitely be back to the Coronado/San Diego area but we will never eat @ the Rhino again.
